Pattern

V + rồi · chưa + V · vừa / mới + V · sắp + V

Rồi at the end of a sentence means already or done: Tôi ăn rồi. Chưa means not yet: Tôi chưa ăn. Vừa or mới means just now: Tôi vừa đến. Sắp means about to: Tàu sắp chạy. Add có … chưa? to ask whether something has happened.

Tip: Answer a … chưa? question with rồi (yes, already) or chưa (not yet).

Examples

Bạn ăn cơm chưa? – Tôi ăn rồi.
Have you eaten yet? – I've already eaten.
Tôi chưa đến Việt Nam bao giờ.
I have never been to Vietnam.
Tôi vừa về đến nhà.
I just got home.
Tàu sắp chạy rồi, nhanh lên!
